can someone breakdown the various simple Web Server technologies as real?
Hey guys … thanks for your response to my last question on LAMP. I'm definitely leaning LAMP but how does this compare to say ASP and Microsoft Net Framework? What about Java and JSP? What Python, Perl and so on? IOW, when it is advantageous NOT use the lamp? Thanks in advance!
The lamp is primarily related to Linux. From now on when I say light, I mean the open source Linux + + open source web server database php + / Perl / Python. Implementation details not matter as much as you might think in the grand scheme of things. The problem with LAMP, is that sometimes you do not have the luxury of running Linux. Often a company will way linked to the pictures of the windows, and instead of jumping through hoops may be easier to apply only thing in asp. Asp.NET not a bad system and the battery is not to steal it plain old asp. There is a learning curve, but not bad so if you already know Java. JSP and J2EE are rarely used outside of the big corporate sites, as they are complicated notoriously messy and annoying. Companies seem like it supposedly makes it easier to build large complex applications I personally believe multilevel which is a load of cahoony. The moral of the story is far from simple and stable going, LAMP is the way forward. If you insist on using the rails, you have to start with Mongrel around and such, so I will not try that here. Otherwise, the LAMP is simple, well developed and quite easy to use. Use it unless you have a good reason.
