Electronic Medical Records: The client / server or ASP?
When buying electronic medical record (EMR) software that is better ASP or client / server? Unfortunately, there is a correct answer. You will have to decide what is important to their practice and what is not. ASP is a software system is site hosted on a remote access web browser, similar to the model used in online banking. This system is hosted remotely accessed by the payment of rent or share service. Many IT futurists consider ASP based systems to be the future, however, come many offices do not have the need for remote access and do not want to put your data in the hands of another company making client / server systems still a popular choice. In most cases, if an office has multiple locations an ASP system always should be considered, but requires a high performance office and has multiple locations in the client / server system may be the best option. Talk to your consultant IT and software vendor to obtain all the information you need to make an educated decision.
