Rack Server
What is the main difference between the server and PC case?
I recently purchased an HP computer with Vista. I used to assign recording with XP and none of my audio equipment works properly with Vista, so I plan to build a computer to record (with 64-bit XP Pro). I like to be a team rack to be mounted with other professional audio gear.Most the cases seem to me are rackmount server cases. "If I can use a server as upper unit of a standard desktop?
Yes, you could probably get away with doing that. More rack mount servers are computers which work only very high, so could not use the machine at full capacity. But you could probably also find ways to use all that horse extra power for something. Of course, you want to make sure it will fit on your shelf. I'm not sure if an audio component rack has the same dimensions as a rack servers.
