How do you take the side panel off an IBM computer?
I don’t know if this helps, but it’s a Netfinity 3000 and the serial number is 23M6337. There are no screws to unscrew or anything.

It explains on Page 74 how to do it. I tried unlocking the key, then pressing the tab and sliding the side panel toward the front. It barely moved, but it did seem to shift or something, and after I did that I couldn’t turn the key anymore. Once I slid it back, I could move the key again. I don’t see it coming off like in the picture, however.
I see page 77 that you should:
- unlock the cover (if not already done)
- PULL the tab (not press)
- push the cover toward the front side as in the illustration
- finally lift it, probably to remove it from its slots
