Drive Cage

I drive a 1995 Camaro Z28.Would a roll cage be worth it?

I have a 1995 Camaro Z28 and I was looking at a chromoly roll cage because I would like the safety benefit ( I drive pretty wild a lot of the time) and because stiffening the chassis would improve handling. I was wondering if its worth it in the long term, though.. I very very rarely have anyone in the back seat( maybe once a year) but I was wondering if my backseat would still be functional with the cage installed. Also, I would like my interior to remain intact and the cage installation to be neat.. Is that possible? Is the handling gain very noticeable?

I would suggest starting with subframe connectors. If you have a drag car or hard core road racing an 8 pt or 10 pt cage would be needed. You can cage a car and still work around your interior. This would be somewhat custom and will cost much more. Moly is about double what mild steel is, + requires tig welding instead of steel which can be mig welded. This all adds to the cost of your cage. If you want to keep that stock looking interior it will cost you $$$$. I would start with the subframe connectors they are around $110 – $250 for a set and weld in are better but you can also get bolt in. This will give you plenty of rigidity for what your doing. If you like road racing and messing around on the street check some forums out and see what other F-body guys are doing to improve rigidity and handling. Good Luck!
