What are some examples of storage devices that can be used as a quorum device to a server cluster node two?
Am trying to configure a two node cluster for Microsoft Exchange. I have read too many articles about how to tell what I need to connect both servers for a quorum device. Just want to know, what are some real world examples of quorum devices? What are some examples actual hardware specific?
Hopefully this will not add more confusion … You could use an external disk array (EXP 10/15 IBM, Dell PowerVault etc) that uses a shared (SCSI) bus. Of course, you'd need two RAID controllers and configure both machines (not virtual) to access the array same disk. This is what I recommend to clients – back in the "Wolfpack" days. Today, SAN or NAS technology can do the same (If your budget allows). The more expensive Fibre Channel. The most affordable (and the most promising technology is my humble opinion) iSCSI – EqualLogic – is fresh and very slippery. Fibre Channel over IP is another way to go – EMC and LeftHand both have implementations. Hope this helps!
