Simplify data center management with centralized control of service processors
Downtime Prevention Data Center is a priority for data center managers, and for good reason. Across all industries, hourly earnings loss due to inactivity is very expensive. Centralized server management platforms simplify access to IT assets by aggregating access and provide a single management portal, eliminating the need to manage individual devices. When there is downtime, platforms centralized management server provides a unified entry point allows administrators to access, troubleshoot, turn off and on, and keep the servers and equipment back online quickly. Integrated Technologies board
Integrated technologies on board processors or services, the microcontrollers are embedded in a motherboard a server, a PCI card, or a server chassis. They are independent from the main CPU and the operating system and are accessible through an Ethernet interface, dedicated (not band) or shared with the Ethernet data (sideband). (2) The duties of the processor vary by manufacturer and include remote power-cycle devices, monitoring of the implementation of a server on board (temperature, CPU status, fan speed, and tension), the console login remotely via serial over LAN (SoL), and the ability to set traps and off if the level of SO.
Some service processors also allow for registration data, KVM and virtual media.
There are several different types of integrated onboard technologies from various manufacturers.
Centralized Management
There are two centralized management platforms in the market, and Avocent DSView Raritan Command Center, which can be used to manage devices made by different suppliers. Avocent also makes two service processor aggregation appliances that can be used to manage devices with integrated onboard technologies: the Cyclades OnBoard Service Processor Manager and the MergePoint 5200 Management Gateway Appliance. Both are integrated with the DSView software and can also be managed by CLI. The OnBoard Cyclades offers out-of-band physical consolidation, control of power and control, and requires only one external IP address for all connected devices. The MergePoint provides the service processor "Autodiscovery" hardware monitoring, execution of command groups, integrated support for Desktop Remote Protocol (RDP) and Virtual Network Computing (VNC), and Serial over LAN (SoL) power control.
Raritan, integrated solutions which include industry-standard PCI cards "Daughter" cards, and a single-chip solution, currently supports generic devices through its Command Center Secure Gateway appliance and is expected to further extend this support to include IPMI in Q1. Minicom, which currently provides KVM KVM.net product out of bounds on the administration IP for mixed server environments, is expected to add support for integrated technologies on board in Q2.

Both Avocent and Raritan provide integrated management solutions that enables administrators to manage devices with integrated onboard technologies such as IPMI, ILO, DRAC, and as allowing them to manage the teams currently controlled through secure servers on the console or KVM over IP.
